History of baking
In today,
bakeries, café, donut shop and cupcakes shop there almost unlimited variety of
baked delight. From sour dough bread to maroccon and to cookies. The term baking means the use of dry heat in
the oven to convert ingredients like flour, sugar, water into baked goods.
The Egyptians
baking history
Records show
that Egyptians were baking bread as early as 2600-2100BC.it is believed that
the Egyptians learned bread baking knowledge from the ancients Babylonians. A
relief representing the royal bakery of Ramses features bread and cakes, some
of these were shaped in the form of animal and used for sacrifices. Other early
records by Greek scholar (Aristophanes 450-385 B.C) unearth the existence of
honey flans and patterned tortes. From his records also shows the Greeks used
crude flour and honey to make a type of doughnut called ”Disprus” . the ring shape cake Dipyrus was sunmerged in
wine and consumed hot.

The greek knowledge of baking influenced the Roman Empira, have the Roman developed if feaether intd business. Baking really flourished under the Roman, as there evidence that the roman form the first pasrty-cook’s association or pastillarium. the association help evaluated pastry-cooking into a highly respected profession. Bakery business was very profitable and successful that in time of Christ around three hundred bakeries existed in Rome. When the Roman Empire collapsed, Europe went into the dark
ages. Baking becomes a home trade. The art of baking gradually spread
throughout Europe and the world.
The first decorated cakes were
created in England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1.This cakes were not
like today cakes, they were more like buns covered with almond frosting what we
call marzipan now.
